DawnCup

Wear OS workout intensity tracker

Last updated: 2026-04-09

Overview

DawnCup is a Wear OS workout intensity tracker. It runs on your smartwatch to measure workout intensity using heart rate and motion sensors during fitness and activity sessions.

By default, everything stays on your watch. Heart rate, motion sensors, and workout history are read from your watch's sensors, stored locally in a private database, and never transmitted unless you explicitly opt in.

DawnCup does not require an account, a sign-in, or any personal information to use. It does not collect your name, email, phone number, location, or contacts.

Data Collection

By default — stays on your device

These items are read and stored on your device only. Nothing is transmitted unless you explicitly opt in.

  • Heart rateCompute intensity zones and workout score during a workout session (via Android Health Services)
  • Motion sensors (accelerometer and gyroscope)Detect exercise activity and movement intensity
  • Workout metadataStart/end time, duration, intensity score, zone breakdown — stored locally with your workout history
  • Device model and OS versionStored with each workout for calibration and compatibility

Opt-in — uploaded only with your consent

These items are transmitted only if you enable the corresponding feature. Opting out prevents future uploads.

  • Pseudonymous device identifierA random UUID generated on first install, used to link your uploaded workouts together for calibration analysis. Contains no personal information.
  • Workout record (for upload)When you opt in to workout upload, the anonymized workout record — heart rate samples, motion trace, intensity score — is transmitted to the calibration backend

Bug reports only

These items are included only when you manually submit a bug report or feedback from within the app.

  • Crash stack traces and app logsWhen you submit a bug report via XrayKit, recent app logs and crash details are included to help diagnose the issue

Opt-In Features

The following features transmit data only if you explicitly enable them. They are off by default.

Workout upload

If enabled, completed workouts are transmitted to our calibration backend at lincinnovations.com. The upload includes heart rate samples, motion sensor trace, intensity score, and a pseudonymous device identifier. You can disable this at any time on the summary screen.

Workout sharing

Tap 'Share' on a completed workout to generate a shareable link. The shared record contains the same fields as an uploaded workout plus any caption you add. Sharing is one-tap and per-workout — nothing is shared without your explicit action.

Bug reports via XrayKit

If you submit a bug report from within DawnCup, XrayKit will include your written description, a crash stack trace (if applicable), recent app logs, device model, and OS version. Bug reports are submitted to our Firebase-hosted backend and used solely to diagnose and fix issues.

Third-Party Services

DawnCup interacts with the following third-party services. It uses no advertising SDKs, no analytics trackers, and no social media integrations.

  • Android Health ServicesReading heart rate during active workouts
When used: Always (required for core functionality)
  • Firebase (Google)Backend for XrayKit bug reports
When used: Only when you submit a bug report · Privacy policy
  • AWS (Amazon)Calibration backend hosted by LINC Innovations at lincinnovations.com
When used: Only if you opt in to the corresponding feature

Data Retention

  • Local data: Until you uninstall the app or clear storage. Uninstalling DawnCup permanently deletes all local workout data.
  • Uploaded data: Indefinitely, keyed by your pseudonymous device identifier. Reinstalling DawnCup generates a new identifier, and previously uploaded data can no longer be associated with your new install.
  • Bug reports: 12 months, then deleted (pending confirmation — see Open Items in the source spec).

Children's Privacy

DawnCup is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted data, please contact us at hello@lincinnovations.com and we will investigate.

Your Rights

Residents of California (CCPA), the European Union (GDPR), and similar jurisdictions have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data held about them, and to opt out of certain data uses.
