Workout intensity tracker for Apple Watch and Wear OS
Last updated: 2026-08-05
DawnCup is a workout intensity tracker for Apple Watch and Wear OS smartwatches. It runs on your watch to measure workout intensity using heart rate and motion sensors during fitness and activity sessions. On Apple Watch, heart rate is read through Apple HealthKit and completed workouts can be saved back to the Apple Health app; on Wear OS, heart rate is read through Android Health Services. There is also a phone companion app that acts as a read-only viewer for event leaderboards.
By default, everything stays on your watch. Heart rate, motion sensors, and workout history are read from your watch's sensors, stored locally in a private database, and never transmitted unless you explicitly opt in.
DawnCup does not require an account, a sign-in, or any personal information to use. It never asks for your email address, phone number, location, or contacts, and it uses no advertising SDK.
One exception is worth stating plainly: if you post a workout to an event leaderboard, you type a display name yourself, and that name is published on a public scoreboard alongside your score. Type whatever you want shown on the screen in the room - a first name, a nickname, or nothing recognisable. Nothing is posted to a leaderboard unless you tap Share and choose a channel.
These items are read and stored on your device only. Nothing is transmitted unless you explicitly opt in.
These items are transmitted only if you enable the corresponding feature. Opting out prevents future uploads.
These items are included only when you manually submit a bug report or feedback from within the app.
The following features transmit data only if you explicitly enable them. They are off by default.
Off by default. If you turn it on, completed workouts are transmitted to our calibration backend at lincinnovations.com. The upload includes heart rate samples, motion sensor trace, intensity score, and a pseudonymous device identifier. The workout file is uploaded to private storage using a short-lived signed link, then confirmed. You can disable this at any time on the summary screen.

Tap 'Share' on a completed workout to generate a shareable link. The shared record contains the same fields as an uploaded workout plus any caption you add. Sharing is one-tap and per-workout - nothing is shared without your explicit action.

At an event, tap 'Share' on a finished workout, pick the event channel, and type the display name you want on the board. Your name, score, duration, and post time are sent to our backend and appear on a public scoreboard at lincinnovations.com/dawncup/board for anyone holding that event's join code - typically projected on a screen in the room. Reading a board requires no sign-in by design, so treat anything you post as public. Nothing is posted automatically when a workout ends; every entry is a deliberate tap.

On the Wear OS version, if you submit a bug report from within DawnCup, XrayKit will include your written description, a crash stack trace (if applicable), recent app logs, device model, and OS version. Bug reports are submitted to our Firebase-hosted backend and used solely to diagnose and fix issues. The Apple Watch and iPhone versions do not include this feature.
DawnCup interacts with the following third-party services. It uses no advertising SDKs, no analytics trackers, and no social media integrations.
DawnCup is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you hand your watch to a child at an event, pick a display name that does not identify them - the board is public to everyone holding the join code. If you believe a child has submitted data, please contact us at hello@lincinnovations.com and we will investigate.
Residents of California (CCPA), the European Union (GDPR), and similar jurisdictions have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data held about them, and to opt out of certain data uses. Because DawnCup does not collect personal identifiers tied to individuals, some of these rights may not apply as usually framed. Contact us at hello@lincinnovations.com to exercise any rights under applicable law.
We may update this policy as DawnCup evolves. Changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced in-app when possible.
