ZenBalance

Yoga balance tracking and stability analysis

Last updated: 2026-10-27

Overview

ZenBalance is a yoga balance tracking application providing real-time balance scoring (0 to 100) using inertial motion sensors on phones and smartwatches. Your privacy is fundamental to our design. This policy explains what data ZenBalance processes, where it is stored, and under what circumstances any data leaves your device.

ZenBalance is designed solely for recreational yoga balance training and athletic wellness feedback. ZenBalance is not a medical device, is not intended for clinical use, and does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment, therapy, or medical advice.

ZenBalance functions entirely offline by default. All core balance calculations, session scores, and optional practice video recordings remain strictly on your local device or synchronize directly between your paired watch and phone over local Bluetooth and Wi-Fi channels. Only two optional features can transmit information off your device: (1) an anonymous device and sensor hardware profile (transmitted only if you explicitly choose to opt in via the in-app consent dialog or Settings), and (2) user-initiated bug reports via XrayKit (transmitted only when you choose to submit a report).

Data Collection

By default: stays on your device

These items are read and stored on your device only. Nothing is transmitted unless you explicitly opt in.

  • Motion sensor readings (accelerometer, gyroscope, rotation vector) - Real-time balance stability and sway calculation during yoga pose holds. Processed strictly in memory on device.
  • Yoga balance session metrics - Balance scores (0 to 100), pose hold duration, stability percentage, and sway angle metrics (average, min, max) saved to track practice history and personal bests. Stored in app-private storage and synced locally between paired watch and phone.
  • Practice session video recordings (optional) - When enabled by the user in Settings, the front camera records video of yoga pose holds for visual posture review. Stored strictly in app-private storage with an automatic 20-video FIFO retention cap; never uploaded or shared.

Opt-in: uploaded only with your consent

These items are transmitted only if you enable the corresponding feature. Opting out prevents future uploads.

  • Anonymous sensor and device hardware profile - When the user opts in via the consent dialog, submits technical hardware metrics (device model, OS version, sample rate, noise standard deviation) to calibrate algorithms across devices. Contains no user identifiers, accounts, names, or locations.

Bug reports only

These items are included only when you manually submit a bug report or feedback from within the app.

  • User-typed bug report description and category (optional) - When submitting an optional bug report (via device shake on calm screens or Settings -> Report a problem), the user enters a problem description and category. Shown upfront in disclosure before capture; nothing is sent without tapping Submit.
  • Screenshot of current screen (optional) - When submitting an optional bug report, the screen is captured only after the user passes the disclosure dialog. A preview of the screenshot is displayed in the report sheet; nothing is sent without tapping Submit.
  • Recent application logs (optional) - When submitting an optional bug report, recent in-memory technical log lines are attached for troubleshooting. Disclosed before capture; emails, phone numbers, IP addresses, and tokens are redacted. Nothing is sent without tapping Submit.
  • Bug report device metadata and anonymous device identifier - Device model, OS version, app version, screen dimensions, anonymous device identifier (SHA-256 hash prefix), and anonymous Firebase Authentication UID. Disclosed before capture; nothing is sent without tapping Submit.

Opt-In Features

The following features transmit data only if you explicitly enable them. They are off by default.

Anonymous sensor hardware profile contribution

When enabled via the in-app consent dialog or Settings, ZenBalance submits anonymous technical sensor metrics (device manufacturer, model, OS version, sample rate, noise standard deviation) to help improve sensor calibration accuracy across device models. Contains no user identifiers, accounts, names, or locations. Users can disable this at any time in Settings.

Practice session video recording

When enabled in Settings, the front-facing camera records video of yoga pose holds for visual posture review. All recordings remain strictly on device in app-private storage with an automatic 20-video FIFO retention cap, and are never transmitted externally.

User-initiated bug reports via XrayKit

Shaking the device on calm screens or selecting Report a problem in Settings displays a disclosure dialog listing all data included in a bug report. Confirming the disclosure captures a report, opening a preview with the captured screenshot. Nothing is sent without tapping Submit in the report sheet; there are no automatic or background uploads.

Third-Party Services

ZenBalance interacts with the following third-party services. It uses no advertising SDKs, no analytics trackers, and no social media integrations.

  • Google Play Services Wearable & Apple WatchConnectivity - Local peer-to-peer balance telemetry and session synchronization between paired watch and phone over Bluetooth and local Wi-Fi. Zero data is transmitted to cloud servers.
When used: Always (required for core functionality) · Privacy policy
  • LINC Innovations Sensor Calibration & Quirks API (hosted on AWS) - Backend destination for voluntary anonymous sensor hardware profiles to calibrate algorithms across devices, and automated sensor quirks database version checks.
When used: Only if you opt in to the corresponding feature · Privacy policy
  • Firebase (Google) - project linc-xraykit-prod - Cloud backend for user-initiated bug report submissions via XrayKit (anonymous authentication via Identity Toolkit, Firestore report documents, and Firebase Storage attachments). Triggered only when the user confirms disclosure and taps Submit; no automatic or background uploads.
When used: Only when you submit a bug report · Privacy policy

Data Retention

  • Local data: All core yoga balance session metrics and scores are stored in app-private storage on device until the user clears app storage or uninstalls the application. Recorded practice videos are stored locally with an automatic FIFO cap of 20 videos (the oldest video is removed when a 21st is recorded), or until deleted by the user or when the app is uninstalled. Local data is never transmitted to cloud servers.
  • Uploaded data: Anonymous sensor hardware profiles uploaded to LINC Innovations contain no personal identifiers, user IDs, or device IDs. They are retained to maintain sensor calibration accuracy across device models. Because profiles are completely anonymous and not linked to any user identity, individual deletion requests cannot be processed.
  • Bug reports: Bug reports are only submitted when the user actively chooses to send one, never automatically. Storage attachments (screenshots, logs) in Firebase Storage and report records in Firestore are retained for up to 90 days. To request earlier deletion of a report record, contact hello@lincinnovations.com with the date and category of the report.

Children's Privacy

ZenBalance is not directed to children under 13 years of age. The application does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The optional sensor data contribution feature requires explicit consent in the application Settings.

Your Rights

Residents of California (CCPA), the European Union (GDPR), and similar jurisdictions have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data held about them, and to opt out of certain data uses. Because ZenBalance does not collect personal identifiers tied to individuals, some of these rights may not apply as usually framed. Contact us at hello@lincinnovations.com to exercise any rights under applicable law.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as ZenBalance evolves. Changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced in-app when possible.
